Getting here
A short, opinionated guide to the city, our neighborhood, and the nearby cliffs of the Presidio.
Get to San Francisco
Fly into SFO — closest to the Legion (~30 min by car) and the most flights. OAK is often cheaper but a 45-minute drive. Skip SJC.
From SFO, BART is a 30-minute, $10 ride downtown. Rideshare all the way is about $50.
Where to stay
We're finalizing hotel blocks. In the meantime, pick a neighborhood:
- Presidio / Pacific Heights — quietest, closest to the venue. Hotel Drisco, Inn at the Presidio.
- Marina / Cow Hollow — walkable and lively, 15–20 min to the Legion.
- Nob Hill / Union Square — the classic downtown hotels, 20–25 min out.
Getting to the Legion
From anywhere in the city, rideshare is the easiest call — 10 to 20 minutes, and you won't fight for parking.
Muni buses 1, 18, and 38 reach Lincoln Park but are slower. Driving works, but the Legion's lot and street parking fill up fast — come early if you must.
While you're in town
- Walk Lands End
- Five minutes from the Legion. Cliffs, cypress, and the Golden Gate at the end.
- Drive the Headlands
- Cross the bridge to Battery Spencer or Hawk Hill for the city's best view.
- Wander the Presidio
- Forest trails, Tunnel Tops, and the Crissy Field view of the bridge.
- Eat & drink
- Zuni, Nopa, State Bird, Liholiho. Coffee: Arsicault, Jane. Book ahead.
One last thing
The weather
October is SF's secret summer — usually sunny, 65–75°F, and the fog finally lifts. But our little corner of the city by the ocean can get breezy and cool after sunset. Bring a light jacket or wrap you can throw over a dress for the ceremony and cocktail hour.
